How sponsor band assignment works under the Red-Amber-Green compliance framework.

Band assignment logic

Each licensed sponsor receives an individual rating for visa refusal rate, enrolment rate, and completion rate. The overall UKVI RAG band is determined by the worst-performing metric — not an average across the three measures.

Rolling monitoring

Unlike the annual Basic Compliance Assessment review cycle, the RAG system applies rolling monitoring using live compliance data. Band consequences take effect automatically when thresholds are breached.

Intelligence monitoring

UKVI RAG Intelligence maintains an independent database of sponsor band assignments based on compliance intelligence monitoring. These assignments are not official UKVI publications and should be verified with institutions before making application decisions.
